This Directory is organized by subject and most sites in it are suggested to us by users. Sites are placed in categories by our content team, who visit and evaluate your suggestions and decide where they best belong. We do this to ensure that the Directory is organized in the best possible way, is easy to use, intuitive, helpful, and fair to everyone.With this in mind, we ask that you follow three simple steps if you have a site (URL) you'd like to suggest:
1. Check to see if your site is already listed.
An important first step, because if your site is already listed, you do not need to submit it again. Check by searching for your site by title, or by browsing appropriate categories. (You can do this from most pages within the directory using the search box near the top of the screen).2: Find the appropriate category in the Directory.
Finding an appropriate category for your site is at the heart of this process. Remember that our content team visits each site suggested and proper categorization on your part helps us process suggestions quickly. Please note that if you are submitting a site that has both horse related and non-horse related content; the horse related content must be readily available or searchable. For example, a real estate site that lists both residential homes and farms should have the farms either on a separate page or a searchable database. The final decision on acceptance to the directory lies solely with American Horse Network.
3. Suggest your site from the appropriate category.
Suggest your site from the category you think most appropriate and only submit once per site. Do this by typing in the URL you want to submit and clicking on the "Spider It" link at the top center of that category page. The engine will attempt to pull in your META TAGS but if for some reason it doesn't, just type them in yourself. If you want to submit the different sections/pages of your site, please make sure you provide the correct URL to each page/section. For example, you may want your main page to be listed under Farms and Ranches so you'd submit www.myfarm.com as the URL but if you want to list your stallion page under the breed category; then you'd submit your URL for your stallion page(ex. www.myfarm.com/stallion.htm). This way you can list a different title for each page and also a different discription. Also remember that the final placement of your site is determined by our content team.When you click on "Spider It" in the appropriate category, you'll see an on-line form asking for information about your site. (In the "category" space on the form, you'll see the name of the category and any sub categories you have chosen.) Please be prepared to provide your e-mail address, your site's title, URL, a brief description and up to 15 key search words to associate with your entry. Please ensure that you use the full URL (http://.....) in your entry. Also, we ask that you do not use any non-alphanumeric characters in the description or keywords. Separate your keywords with a comma! Since you will be listed in the most appropriate category for you site; the keywords will help visitors find you when they utilize our search capabilities.
We update our database every 3-5 business days and sites following the guidelines above can expect to be added in this time. Please help us to help you by providing your information as outlined above.
